The Gatorade QTS (Queensland Triathlon Series) was born in 1998/99 by combining several of these events under the one banner and attracted Gatorade as the naming rights sponsor and official sports drink. The events started early on Sunday morning, requiring staff and the 35 marshals to be on site in the dark, so that we were finished and the roads were reopened by 9.00am to minimize traffic disruption.

From this humble start where 500 competitors was the average combined field, these days we confidently cater for 1800 competitors at Raby Bay, Robina and Caloundra.

It is hard to believe that the QTS series has been the breeding ground for young and not so young triathletes for nearly 2 decades. It only seems like yesterday.
